This paper highlights key findings from IDC’s December SAP Global State of Integration Survey. At this point, most organizations have some kind of tool to integrate applications, with many having moved away from hand-coded integrations for the most part in the past few years. Most organizations have more than one tool. The survey shows that 50% of organizations now have three or fourintegration tools, while another 25% have more than four. Having multiple tools to connect applications and data workloads across the enterprise is cumbersome at best and value eating at worst. But the reality is that companies have complex modern and legacy workloads, made even more complex by the organically derived integration architectures they are currently supporting, which often lead to compatibility challenges across connectivity tools.
