As organizations migrate data to a new hypervisor, they need to determine how best to ensure data protection both during and after the move. That is especially important in the age of AI, because models require everincreasing amounts of data that must be secured and trusted. Any missteps while migrating data during a hypervisor transition can affect innovation efforts. This report compares the results of two Foundry global research studies, conducted in July 2024 and March 2026. It examines why organizations are moving away from VMware and how they are addressing hypervisor migration challenges while protecting data, no matter its type or location.
