Preventive Maintenance (PM) is carried out at periodic and predetermined intervals or according to prescribed criteria and is intended to reduce the probability of failure or the degradation of the functioning of an item and its costly immediate corrective intervention. However, it still requires substantial labor and heavy spare part inventory management on site. Preventive Maintenance consists of the execution of a sequence of predefined activities (work instruction) such as: visual inspections, functional checks (electrical, mechanical, electronics), and work on mechanisms with proactive parts replacement to minimize component degradation and extend the life of equipment.
